Watch BJ The Chicago Kid Croon “Woman’s World” and “Turnin’ Me Up” On Conan
It’s finally R&B crooner BJ The Chicago Kid’s time to shine, and he’s been killing it. After spending close to 10 years on up-and-coming rappers’ mixtapes and albums, and dropping many solid projects of his own, he’s finally made the major label leap. His buttery smooth Motown studio debut In My Mind is like an updated collage of Sam Cooke, D’Angelo, and Smokey Robinson. He performed two stand out tracks on Conan last night, the second single “Turnin’ Me Up” and James Brown-esque “Woman’s World,” in front of a five-piece band and a couple of backup singers. BJ’s performance likely went unnoticed due to his old friend Kendrick’s takeover last night, but it’s definitely worth a look. Peep it.
In My Mind is out now on Motown.
