Kanye Addresses Torrenting Controversy, Praises Paparazzi In Impromptu Airport Monologue
Like many celebrities, Kanye West has had a bit of a, shall we say, contentious relationship with paparazzi. But yesterday, as he was getting dropped off at LAX Airport and stopped by a few photographers, he seemed happy to hold forth on all sorts of subjects. The conversation began with Kanye’s recent Pirate Bay screenshot, which he maintains wasn’t even his computer, and his views on file sharing before morphing into a discussion of Tidal, Steve Jobs, the tension between art and commerce, truth, and paparazzi. “I really appreciate you guys because you guys keep me alive. You, the paparazzi, keep me alive,” Kanye says. “You keep me relevant. They can’t stop my voice. They can say what they want on the news channels, the stations, blah blah blah, but I can just talk directly to you and go up and my voice not be stopped.” Watch and listen below.
