Weaves – “One More”

Weaves – “One More”

Toronto guitar-pop quartet Weaves have been working on their debut LP for about as long as they’ve been a band. Though we’ve heard from them sparingly since their great self-titled EP, what they’ve offered since has been rousing as well — so much so that we booked them for our massive unofficial SXSW party. Their cover of One Direction, and the one-off “Tick” were both electrifying hints of something bigger to come from one of Toronto’s DIY standouts.

Today, the band announces their proper self-titled debut LP in tandem with the blistering, exhilarating single “One More.” Layers of warped, shoegazing, and rhythmic guitars and one hell of a groovy baseline combine with crashing drums for an infectious sustained burst of pure energy. Jasmyn Burke’s lyrics sound as if yelped through a PA system or bullhorn, and it adds to energy of the track as an event. The pace ramps up and down at precise moments before an all out jam session toward the end. It’s a dose of pure fun and adrenaline. Check it out.
