Miley Cyrus, Not Gwen Stefani, Will Be A Coach On The Voice Next Season
The Voice is about to get weirder and wilder. TMZ reports that Miley Cyrus will join the show as a coach for season 11. Cyrus will take over the spot currently held by Christina Aguilera, joining a panel including Pharrell, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton. TMZ also reports that The Voice producers have decided not to rotate Gwen Stefani — who just released her first solo album in 10 years — back onto the show, and that Shakira’s participation is also on hold.
Per the report, Cyrus will be heavily featured next season because she appeals heavily to the desired demographic. Aside from any demographic concerns, she certainly knows how to sing. Cyrus has been participating as a key adviser during season 10, so she is no stranger to The Voice. The Wrap confirms TMZ’s report about Cyrus but suggests Pharrell is actually exiting the show and Alicia Keys is coming on board. We’ll clarify when official word comes out.
