El-P Says RTJ3 Is “Halfway Done,” 2016 Release Is “Achievable”
For a while now, El-P and Killer Mike have been working on their third album as Run The Jewels. We at Stereogum had dared to hope that the follow-up to 2014’s towering Run The Jewels 2 might be out in time for the duo’s set at this year’s Coachella. They have, after all, shared a couple of snippets of new music, and they tend to work quickly. But perhaps because of Killer Mike’s work on the Bernie Sanders campaign trail, we shouldn’t expect the new album quite so soon. Instead, El-P recently jumped on Twitter to proclaim that the album is half done and that it could be out this year:
pleased to report #RTJ3 is halfway done, the goal of a 2016 release is achievable and a safer, more profitable global economy in our grasp.
