Harlem producer Dollar Bin fuses EDM leanings with hip-hop for big bangers. It’s a wonder fellow Harlemite Azealia Banks hasn’t tapped him for something to rock over. His synth and drum patterns swell into something huge on each track, more momentous events than mere beats. His latest offering, “Do It Again,” off of his upcoming King Of Styles EP, is a paragon of his sound’s immensity. The siren synths are like warnings for huge drops, the drums have plenty of knock and rumble, and windy sweeps serve as a slight reprieve before everything knocks the breath out of you. Philly rapper Tunji Ige rides the beat well on his guest appearance, switching cadences and weaving clever wordplay in and out of the producer’s synth patterns. The collab manages to stay a mix of electro and rap as opposed to just being trip-hop or dubstep because Ige’s flows are lyrically on point and DB’s production strikes a delicate balance between the two genres.
