Christian Fennesz & Jim O’Rourke – “I Just Want You To Stay” (Excerpt)

Christian Fennesz and Jim O’Rourke are two iconic avant garde musicians who both released their most popular and/or poppy albums in 2001: Fennesz’s Endless Summer, an ambient beach trip built from a churning wash of melodic distorted guitars, and O’Rourke’s Insignificance, a classic rock powerhouse with a chamber-pop touch. As Exclaim reports, Fennesz and O’Rourke are teaming up on a new album, their first collaborative work since In Hell, their 2012 release with Peter Rehberg. This one’s called It’s Hard For Me To Say I’m Sorry, and it comprises two lengthy instrumentals that skew far closer to the Endless Summer side of things — or at least that’s the impression I get based on the excerpt they’ve shared from “I Just Want You To Stay.” Submerge yourself in its electronic splendor below.

02 “Wouldn’t Wanna Be Swept Away”
