Dag Nasty Reunite On New Single, Tour
The former Minor Threat guitarist (and current Bad Religion member) Brian Baker founded the DC punk band Dag Nasty in 1985. In their tumultuous three-year history, they went through a ton of lineup changes and released 1986’s Can I Say, an absolute classic of melodic, intense American hardcore. The band broke up in 1988, and they’ve reunited a few times over the years. But right now, they’ve reassembled the band’s original lineup, and they’ve recorded a new two-song single for Dischord Records, the label where they started out. The current lineup doesn’t include Dave Smalley, who sang on Can I Say and the band’s subsequent records; instead, they’ve got vocalist Shawn Brown, the guy Smalley replaced. On the two new songs, “Cold Heart” and “Wanted Nothing,” they’re all back in the studio together for the first time in 30 years. Dischord has shared minute-long clips of both songs, and they really do sound like absolutely badass ’80s-vintage DC punk. The world always needs more of that. Below, listen to those clips and check out the band’s upcoming tour dates.
