Last year we posted “Come Home,” a gorgeously creeping guitar ballad by LA trio Wolf Prize. Now the band is preparing to release their Desired Things EP, and we’ve got another demonstration of their slow-burn beauty. “Baby Blue” almost entirely comprises spectral keyboard chords, minimal high-register guitar, and magnificent swells of bass that spring up to envelop the chorus. It’s all held together by barely-there percussion and a nimble, Björk-reminiscent vocal melody, and that’s really all it needs. This is a band that knows exactly what they’re doing, one capable of capturing attention by doing less, not more. Here’s some background on the song:
