Janet Jackson interrupted her world tour to have an unspecified surgery last December, and she cancelled several more dates last month. Now the singer has shared a video message to fans explaining the latest round of cancellations: She and her husband, Wissam al Mana, are trying to start a family!

In the video, Jackson explains that she has to rest up right now per doctor’s orders and asks, “Please, if you can try and understand that it’s important that I do this now.” She also promises, “I have not forgotten about you. I will continue the tour as soon as I possibly can.” She does not specify what steps she and her husband are taking, but The New York Daily News points out that at age 49, women have a less than 4 percent chance of becoming pregnant. However Jackson is going about it, best of luck to her!
