Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers – “Over The Rise” (Feat. Justin Vernon)
When Bon Iver dove into ’70s and ’80s soft-rock sounds on Bon Iver, Bon Iver, a standard complaint among detractors was that Justin Vernon suddenly sounded like Bruce Hornsby. Vernon was apparently completely cool with that idea, since he and Hornsby now have what seems to be a fun working relationship. Hornsby and Vernon’s band DeYarmond Edison teamed up to cover the Grateful Dead’s “Black Muddy River” on the forthcoming tribute album Day Of The Dead, and Hornsby will perform at Vernon’s Eaux Claires festival this summer. And now, as Pitchfork points out, Vernon sings backup on “Over The Rise,” a new song from Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers. It’s really pretty! Listen to it below.
Hornsby & The Noisemakers’ new album Rehab Reunion is out 6/17 on 429 Records.
