Chuuwee & Trizz – “I’ll Be Good” Video (Stereogum Premiere)
Cali spitters and stoners Chuuwee and Trizz dropped their AmeriKKa’s Most Blunted 2 mixtape last month. Chuuwee is from Sacramento and Trizz reps LA, so both probably have an idea of what good tree is, and both know how to vividly depict the high life with clever, laid back braggadocio over beats with negative space. Trizz sums them up best on his “I’ll Be Good” verse when he asserts “I smoke loud, but I do shit.”
Weed may be the draw from a visual standpoint, but sonically they can rhyme over just about anything and switch cadences to deliver everything from introspection to the false profundity of high conversations. On “I’ll Be Good,” they stress their need for money, weed, and fly fits over haters and women on top of a minimal, wind-chime driven beat. Director Christopher O’Quinn comes with matching visuals today, pitting glitchy black-and-white cuts of what looks like a studio/hangout space against longer color shots of a chill session with the homies. The clip seems like a nice slice of Chuuwee and Trizz’s everyday pie: vibing out to music and creating on their own, and then living the life they rap about with friends. It’s simply a swaggy video for a chill song. Peep it.
