Legendary New Orleans musician Allen Toussaint passed away last year, and his posthumous final album will see release in June. The collection of songs, which was recorded during two separate sessions in 2013 and 2015, is called American Tunes. The first song we’re hearing from it is a cover of standard “Big Chief,” which was composed by Earl King and made famous by Professor Longhair. (It’s also sampled in a Lily Allen song.)
