Someone’s Suing Kanye West And Tidal Because Pablo Is No Longer Exclusive
Tidal just can’t do anything without pissing people off, can it? Shortly after releasing his album The Life Of Pablo in February, Kanye West announced on Twitter that the LP would always be a Tidal exclusive, that no other streaming service would ever get it: “My album will never never be on Apple. And it will never be for sale… You can only get it on Tidal.” Then, last month, Apple Music and Spotify started streaming the album. And now one enterprising fan is actually suing West, claiming that he was duped into signing up for Tidal.
ABC News reports that one Justin Baker-Rhett has filed a proposed class action lawsuit in the U.S. District Court in San Francisco. Baker-Rhett’s lawyers claim that Tidal made as much as $84 million when West claimed that the album would be Tidal-exclusive and that Tidal has violated those customers’ privacy by collecting credit card information, music preferences, and other personal information have been collected.
I love the idea that Kanye’s Twitter has any legal importance at all. Next, you’re going to tell me he doesn’t actually own Wiz Khalifa’s child!
