Beyoncé’s LEMONADE Will See iTunes, Physical Release
Rejoice, people who don’t subscribe to Tidal, aka almost everyone! As of now, Tidal is the only place where you can watch, listen to, or buy (for $17.99) Beyoncé’s new “visual album” LEMONADE, which premiered on HBO last night. But despite Beyoncé’s stake in the company, The New York Times reports that LEMONADE won’t be a Tidal exclusive for long. According to two anonymous sources who were “briefed on the plans for the release” but weren’t authorized to discuss them, the album is expected to be released for sale on iTunes at midnight tonight. That said, you might want to take that information with a grain of salt — before the mysterious LEMONADE premiered, one supposedly reliable source said that it would be a “docu-style special,” which was proven totally wrong last night. So I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens at midnight tonight.
UPDATE: Sources tell Billboard that LEMONADE will actually hit iTunes a little earlier than midnight, at 10PM. It will also reportedly be available for purchase on Amazon and Google Play. Tidal will maintain its streaming exclusivity “in perpetuity,” however, a representative for Tidal has confirmed.
UPDATE 2: Per Amazon, the physical CD/DVD version of LEMONADE will be out 5/6.
