Yeesh – “End Results” (Stereogum Premiere)
Yeesh put out their impressively nervy debut No Problem in 2015 after a few years of gestating in the Chicago scene, and they’re following it up with Confirmation Bias, their sophomore LP and first for rock powerhouse Tiny Engines. It sees the trio tightening up their already tightly-coiled post-punk to the point of strangulation; lead single “End Results” is scrappy but far-reaching, as Alex Doyle scratchily intones the ways in which technology can render everything meaningless: “The end results are coming in/ Of a life at odds with every little thing.” He sets up a mirror image of passivity: “I perfect the subtle ways in which to waste the day/ I watch the world as it wastes away,” and asks at the end of the first verse, “I’d make a point, but what’s the point?,” though it’s pretty clear from Confirmation Bias that Yeesh have something important to say.
