KROQ Weenie Roast: Garbage’s Shirley Manson Falls Off The Stage, RHCP’s Anthony Kiedis Rushed To The Hospital
Yesterday’s KROQ Weenie Roast in Los Angeles was a particularly eventful one. During ’90s alt-pop veterans Garbage’s set, while they were playing “Special,” frontwoman Shirley Manson ended up stumbling off the stage and into the audience. Fortunately, she recovered amazingly well, playing it off and continuing to perform the song in the middle of the crowd:
But that wasn’t the day’s only mishap. Mere hours before Red Hot Chili Peppers were scheduled to perform, frontman Anthony Kiedis was rushed to the hospital. According to Billboard, the singer was taken from the venue in an ambulance after he starting experiencing “extreme stomach pain.” The rest of the band took the stage to announce that they wouldn’t be able to perform, and Weezer ended up closing out the show. Blink-182 also stepped in to give a surprise performance.
UPDATE Red Hot Chili Peppers have released a statement via their official website, explaining that Anthony Kiedis was hospitalized due to complications from intestinal flu. He’ll be ok, but the band are cancelling their concert for iHeart Radio on Tuesday. Read below.
Due to Anthony Kiedis’ hospitalization from complications from the intestinal flu on Saturday evening, the Red Hot Chili Peppers regretfully must postpone their upcoming concert for iHeart Radio on May 17th. They would like to extend their gratitude to the fans for the outpouring of well wishes. Anthony is expected to make a full recovery soon.
