Old-school Aussie Band To Watch Dappled Cities are gearing up to release their still-untitled fifth studio album in October on Chugg Music, and in anticipation they have released “That Sound,” the first music from the quintet since 2014’s Many Roads: B-sides & Rarities. The track melds Bowie-inspired pop with modern day indie-rock, displaying a new side of the band. Of the writing and recording process for “That Sound,” vocalist/guitarist Tim Derricourt says “we found ourselves in Byron Bay making a fittingly relaxed and positive record, taking all that we love about weirdo indie rock and adding some of that sweet ’70s good time vibes to it — mellow beats, plenty of cowbell, layers of harmonies — true splendor.” Bathe in that splendor below.
