Watch Anderson .Paak & T.I.’s Blazing-Hot The Tonight Show Performance
Last night, during a T.I. show at New York’s Irving Plaza, tragedy struck. One person was killed and three more, including the rapper Troy Ave, were wounded in a shooting. This story sucks for so many reasons, and one of the smaller reasons is that it will now overshadow what T.I. did earlier in the day. Before the Irving Plaza show, the category-breaking funkateer Anderson .Paak taped a performance on The Tonight Show, with T.I. coming out to deliver a verse. And it is a fucking monstrous performance. Together, the two of them did “Come Down,” a song from .Paak’s album Malibu, and their energy was off the charts. .Paak started and ended the performance behind the drums, and he transitioned seamlessly from that to a frontman role. And whenever T.I. wasn’t rapping, he was doing these incredible old-man dances. It’s harder to enjoy the performance in light of what went down later — which, it’s worth emphasizing, was in no way T.I.’s fault. But it’s still possible to enjoy the performance, and that’s saying something. Watch it below.
