Thus far this year, the young Brooklyn rap sensation Joey Bada$$ has released new tracks like "Ready" and "Brooklyn's Own." Today, he's shared another one called "Devastated," and it shows a real progression for him. Whereas Bada$$'s earliest tracks were pure mid-'90s throwback, this one has a hooky and melodic delivery that places it firmly in the present day. Producers Kirk Knight, Adam Pallin, and Powers Pleasant give the beat a nicely aqueous feel, and the track uses some variation on the horn riff from OutKast's "SpottieOttieDopalicious."
