The Avalanches – “Frankie Sinatra” (Feat. Danny Brown & MF Doom) Video
Oh can’t you hear it? Can’t you hear it? That’s right — 16 years after Since I Left You, there’s finally a new Avalanches song in the world. And a whole new 21-track album, Wildflower, is coming next month! The reclusive Australian plunderphonics duo of Robbie Chater and Tony Di Blasi just premiered lead single “Frankie Sinatra,” which features Danny Brown and MF Doom and samples Wilmoth Houdini’s “Bobby Sox Idol” and The Sound Of Music’s “My Favorite Things,” tonight on Australian radio station Triple J, and they officially announced the LP on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show. In addition to Brown and Doom, Wildflower also features Father John Misty, Toro Y Moi, Jennifer Herrema of Royal Trux, Camp Lo, Warren Ellis of Dirty Three, and Biz Markie (“chomping over a Beatles sample” on “The Noisy Eater,” according to iTunes). Watch the wild Fleur-&-Manu-directed, hallucinogenic-ice-cream-filled video for “Frankie Sinatra,” check out the Wildflower tracklist, and hear a few clips from the group’s interview with Zane Lowe below.
