PJ Harvey – “The Orange Monkey” Video
In putting together her new album The Hope Six Demolition Project, a sort of meditation on global war and poverty, PJ Harvey worked closely with the wartime photographer Seamus Murphy. He also directed her videos for the album’s songs “The Wheel” and “The Community Of Hope,” and now he’s made another one for “The Orange Monkey.” Harvey doesn’t appear in this one, and Murphy filmed it in Afghanistan, capturing images of busy markets, winding mountain roads, and American troops out patrolling the countryside. It’s a beautiful video and a rare look at everyday life in a place that we’ve come to associate mostly with war and terrorism. Watch it below.
The Hope Six Demolition Project is out now on Vagrant Records.
