Puro Instinct – “peccavi” (Stereogum Premiere)
Avant-pop composer siblings Piper and Skylar Kaplan will release Autodrama, their sophomore album as Puro Instinct, later this month. They have already shared the lead single “Tell Me,” and today, we’re premiering “peccavi.” Named for an archaic word used to express one’s guilt, it’s another ’80s-inspired synthpop track that sees the sisters sharing vocal duties. The duo works well together to craft beautiful harmonies, and the chorus unpacks the meaning of the song title: “I’m always on my own/ All alone and crying/ But I guess that’s what I get for trying.” Check it out below.
