While Mastodon’s Troy Sanders is busy with his new supergroup Gone Is Gone, his bandmate Brent Hinds — the Mastodon member with the red beard and the face tats — has gone and formed a supergroup of his own. Hinds is now part of Giraffe Tongue Orchestra, a band that also features Alice In Chains’ William Duvall, the Mars Volta’s Thomas Pridgen, Dillinger Escape Plan’s Ben Weinman, and Dethklok’s Pete Griffin. The new band will release the debut album Broken Lines this fall, and as Pitchfork reports, it’ll feature guest appearances from Juliette Lewis and from Queens Of The Stone Age member Jon Theodore. First single “Crucifixion” is grand, expansive, occasionally ferocious math-metal, and you can hear it below.
