Stream Dyke Drama Up Against The Bricks
Last year, G.L.O.S.S.’s Sadie Switchblade released a great solo EP under the name Dyke Drama, Tender Resignation, and today she’s followed that up with the project’s first full-length, Up Against The Bricks. Unlike the incendiary and bracing new G.L.O.S.S. EP Trans Day Of Revenge, Dyke Drama seems to be Switchblade’s outlet for songs of the stirring and heartsick variety, and she navigates through punk anthemics, Replacements-core pointedness, and countryfied storytelling with ease. There’s even a fired-up cover of Lucinda Williams’ “I Just Wanted To See You So Bad”! An early standout is the title track, a wistful piece of balladry that laments the passing of time and the dissolution of passion — “Is it too much to ask for a moment that lasts for long enough to get it right? For you to keep me up all night? Is it too late for dreaming? To go back to believing?” — but, really, all of it is so great. Listen to the whole thing below.
Up Against The Bricks is out now. You can pre-order it on vinyl via Salinas Records.
