Fujiya & Miyagi – “To The Last Beat Of My Heart” Video (Stereogum Premiere)
Last month, Brighton krautpop band Fujiya & Miyagi released the first installment of a three-part EP series, simply denoted EP 1, which featured four tracks of artfully skewed electro-pop. The subsequent EPs will follow later this year, prior to the release of a new album from the band in early 2017. Today we are premiering the video for EP 1’s heartwarming second track, “To The Last Beat Of My Heart.” Directed by Bob Brown, Matt Mitchell, and Matt Seccombe, it follows an impossibly sad-eyed dachshund shuttling through space seeking out the companionship of the band’s drifting members. “I will love you no matter where you are/ I will love you to the last beat of my heart,” vocalist David Best sings into the transmission of the canine’s spacepod, and whether he means it from the dog’s perspective or his own, it’s tragically beautiful. Everything just sounds sweeter, more genuine, and touching when you imagine it’s about animals. Watch below.
EP 1 is out now on Impossible Objects Of Desire. Purchase it here.
