Like Fat Possum labelmates Day Wave, Bloomington quartet Hoops hearken back to the end of last decade, when the likes of Real Estate and Wild Nothing were channeling deep nostalgia into blissed-out lo-fi guitar pop. Hoops have an EP coming at the end of the summer, but its opening track is here today. “Cool 2″ is a shimmering melodic mirage that will likely keep sounding better and better as the heat continues to rise.
