Body Language – “The Fall”
Body Language nestle into a space between pop and electro, funneling the emotion of pop sensibilities and the building of moments and moods of electronic music together for evocative soundscapes. They’ve dropped a bunch of good singles since 2013’s Grammar, and their latest, “The Fall,” continues the streak. Dreamy synth layers balancing an airy shimmer and deep sustained bass are punctuated by booming drums. Delicate harmonies and soft melodies waft above the soundscape with the vulnerable admission of apprehension when falling in love with someone and wholeheartedly placing your feelings in their hands. The palpable ambivalence throughout the chorus — “So she said I’m ready for the fall/ I said are you ready to take it all/ She said I’ll give it all I can/ I’ll take it all I can stand” — makes for a wonderful crescendo as the enveloping sonics grow more textured and ramp up in energy. Love can suck, but this song definitely doesn’t. Listen.
“The Fall” is one half of the forthcoming AA-side single “Just Let It” / “The Fall” via B3SCI Records.
