The 1975 – “Somebody Else” Video
The 1975 earned themselves a spot on our list of the 50 best albums of the year so far with the stylistic experimentation of I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it, preposterous title and all. The British poppers have already given us videos for “UGH!,” “The Sound,” and “A Change Of Heart,” and now they’ve shared another for chillwavey early single “Somebody Else.” It opens off with a truly bizarre three-minute black-and-white sequence with no music and a laugh track, and then segues into a more normal music video that shows frontman Matt Healy having a pretty shitty day. Except there’s a bit of a twist at the end — suffice it to say that this is another solid entry into the pantheon of “musician fucks himself” music videos, right alongside Father John Misty’s “The Night Josh Tillman Came To Our Apartment” and Young Thug’s “Best Friend.” Watch below.
I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it is out now on Dirty Hit/Interscope.
