Beach Baby – “U R” Video
London quartet Beach Baby sound like a more new-wave Mac DeMarco, or like Real Estate if they ended up replacing Matt Mondanile with Twin Peaks’ Clay Frankel. Their song “U R” is a sand-blasted, sea-tinged tune that arrived perfectly alongside the sunshine last summer, and the band brought it back right in time once again for this one. The new video is billed as a visual interpretation of “The Five Stages of Break-Up Grief,” and follows a woman named Lily as she goes from “Denial” to “Acceptance” and everything in-between. There’s a loose thematic concentration around her identity as a painter, as well as a recurring metaphor regarding “crying over spilled milk” that evolves with each stage. It’s a really well-done clip, selling the concept with a thoughtful subtlety. Watch below.
