Pixies’ New Bassist Sings A Song About Kim Deal On New LP
Pixies will release Head Carrier, their second post-reunion LP, this fall. We’ve already heard lead single “Um Chagga Lagga,” and now, as NME points out, Black Francis has offered some more details in an interview with BBC Radio 6 Music. He says the new album is less slick than 2014’s Indie Cindy and 1991’s Trompe Le Monde, with a simple sound closer to the 1989 classic Doolittle. More intriguingly, Head Carrier includes the first lead vocal by new bassist Paz Lenchantin, singing a song about founding Pixies bassist Kim Deal. It’s possibly titled “All I Think About Now,” and it’s described as a “thank-you letter” to Deal. Listen to the interview below.
Head Carrier is out 9/30 on Pixiesmusic/Play It Again Sam.
