Sydney singer Alex Cameron makes darkly shaded ’80s pop with a bit of an outsider art spin. We shared his “She’s Mine” video earlier this year, and in the interim he’s announced his Secretly Canadian debut album Jumping The Shark. Today a video arrives for new track “The Comeback,” a sparse but forceful keyboard jam that feels like Born In The U.S.A.-era Bruce Springsteen with the core hollowed out. Directed by ?Britt McCamey, it features Cameron pouring his heart into an intense performance for an empty theater, with a vibe and color palette that reminds me of the Weeknd’s Lynchian “Can’t Feel My Face” video.
