Stream Sun Kil Moon’s “God Bless Ohio” From New Double-LP Common As Light And Love Are Red Valleys Of Blood
Say what you will about Mark Kozelek, but you can’t knock the dude’s work ethic. He’s been dropping material with the frequency of peak Pollard, including two albums in the first half of 2016 alone: Jesu / Sun Kil Moon in January, and Mark Kozelek Sings Favorites in May. And now, it appears he’s got a proper new Sun Kil Moon release on the way — a double-LP no less — titled Common As Light And Love Are Red Valleys Of Blood. That one won’t arrive till next February, but today we get the first single, “God Bless Ohio.” The title might recall “Carry Me Ohio,” a standout track from SKM’s 2003 debut, Ghosts Of The Great Highway, but the sound is very much in line with recent SKM material, as Kozelek sing-speaks in a stream-of-consciousness style over some profoundly beautiful guitar work. Check it out here.
Common As Light And Love Are Red Valleys Of Blood is out 2/28/2017 via Caldo Verde.
