Chance The Rapper Is Getting His Own Music Festival In Chicago
Last month, Chance The Rapper followed up the release of Coloring Book, one of the year’s best albums, with the announcement of his Magnificent Coloring tour, which will take him around the world. But there was one city conspicuously missing from that tour announcement: Chicago, Chance’s beloved hometown. But Chance isn’t spurning Chicago. Instead, the Chicago stop of the tour will be a full-on music festival at U.S. Cellular Field, the South Side baseball stadium where the White Sox play.
The Chicago Tribune reports that Chance’s Magnificent Coloring Day will come to the stadium 9/24. Chance will top a bill that will also feature Lil Wayne, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Skrillex, 2 Chainz, Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert, and Tyler, The Creator, as well as special guests. Weirdly it looks like this will run opposite another local rap fest: Common’s AAHH Fest, which does not yet have a lineup but which is scheduled to come to Union Park 9/24-25.
Regardless, a Chance show in Chicago is about the best thing music has to offer us in 2016. If you can get to this, you should go to this.
