Matt Kivel – “Things To Come” & “Indigo”
Back in February, Los Angeles singer-songwriter Matt Kivel released Janus, his Alasdair Roberts-produced third full-length. There were, however, a few tracks that didn’t make the LP’s final cut, and today, we’re premiering two of them. The gently cascading “Things To Come” is “a song of loss and memory, or, the absence of memory,” Kivel says. “As I’ve gotten older, my memories have dissipated and I’ve lost many of them, both recent and old.” It’s followed by “Indigo,” a delicate number with Kivel singing softly over an acoustic guitar accented by a lead melody and a saxophone lines. Kivel calls the track “one of my favorite songs that I have written. It’s very literal and the listener can follow along easily.” Check out both songs below.
