Douglas Dare – “Doublethink”
Douglas Dare is a London-based musician with a captivating voice and big ideas. His upcoming album Aforger explores the boundary between reality and fiction; as Dare himself explains, “The album title plays with the idea of a forger — someone creating imitations or copies, and reimagines them as the creator of something that’s no longer real.” Advance single “Doublethink” suggests these concepts will be communicated in majestic fashion. It’s a post-rock ballad with shades of Radiohead and James Blake, one that sounds humongous even as it plays around with empty sonic space. Dare’s voice is like fire flashing across against a chilly backdrop: “Ignorance is my bliss/ Don’t want to fall out of this.” Listen below.
