YG – “Word Is Bond” (Feat. Slim 400) Video
YG made one hell of a finger-twisting, gun-popping, paranoid West Coast opus with Still Brazy. His third visual from the album, following clips for “FDT” and the album’s title track, is for the Slim 400-assisted “Word Is Bond.”
The video was shot in Tokyo during Mr. Fo Hunnid’s trip to Japan to perform at this year’s Public Labo Block Party. 2Tone of LA streetwear brand Born X Raised (also a favorite of Vince Staples) directed the simple clip, which features YG and homies stunting on the Tokyo streets. As with any YG video, there’s plenty of red, blood walking, twisted fingers, and old-school whips with hydros. But there are also hilarious hyper-literal English subtitle translations underneath Japanese characters. For example, “Life still krazy, newborn baby/ Niggas I don’t know still hate me (facts)/ Never trippin’, personal message to them niggas/ I’ma shit on y’all vicious” turns into “I live a dangerous life. I have a newborn baby. And people I don’t know hate me. But I don’t care what they think, I would like to tell these people that I’m ultimately gonna be successful.” Cry from laughter emoji times five. Watch YG’s Japanese takeover below.
