Hazel English – “Never Going Home” Video
Oakland-via-Australia singer Hazel English caught our attention with a couple great one-offs last year in “Fix” and “It’s Not Real,” and now the indie-pop songstress is back with the first single off her upcoming as-yet-untitled debut EP, along with a set of visuals. “Never Going Home” is a shimmering wanderer’s anthem with bouncy drums and ringing guitar coming to a crescendo on the hook: “Never going home again/ Turn the lights out/ When you’re leaving/ Never going home/ Don’t wait up for me/ I’m not leaving.” The Sam Hayes-directed video fittingly finds English meandering aimlessly through picturesque beach, forest, and hillside landscapes with a look of longing and vulnerability in her eyes. It’s simple, but both the song and visuals come together to say loudly and clearly that not all who wander are lost. Watch.
English’s debut EP is forthcoming.
