Ghost Gum – “More”
Ghost Gum’s “More” vacillates between existential dread and confident affirmation. “Is there any meaning?” the Philadelphia four-piece ask in the song’s first verse, answered with: “There is only meaning.” “Is there anything more?” is echoed as “There’s always more.” The track’s mirror-like construction lends itself to a sparkling breakdown, as the band walks the line between giving up and giving in: “Why I’m here, it’s never been quite clear just what I want to be/ When I’m dead, I want to be fed to all of the creatures of the sea.” It’s the second single from the band’s upcoming debut full-length The Past, The Future, Dwelling There Like Space — the first, “Edible Complex,” has been taken offline for now — and it sounds great.
