Zaytoven Confirms Drake & Gucci Mane EP The Sixers On The Way
Gucci Mane’s right-hand producer Zaytoven has revealed some details about Drake and Guwop’s collab EP The Sixers in an interview with VladTV. According to Zay, Drake surprised Gucci on the set of the “Guwop Home” video shoot, and being the prolific artist and networking machine that he is, Gucci proposed he and Drake do a project together. They began brainstorming on names for the project right then and there and came up with The Sixers — obviously because Drake is the 6 God and Gucci is from the Zone 6 section of Eastside Atlanta, which gets its name from the Atlanta Police Department’s Patrol Zone 6, and not because these guys care about the dismal Philadelphia 76ers. (No one outside of Philly cares about the 76ers.) Zay also says he and Mike WiLL Made-It started laying down tracks on the same day as the shoot:
We had started recording songs that same day, I know that we got two songs concrete for sure songs that will go for the project. I don’t know for sure it’s going to be me and [Mike] doing the whole thing, if somebody else is gonna be a producer on it, or if I’ll do one by myself and Mike do one by himself. We don’t really know that for sure, just as long as the songs match up together.
Drake and Gucci collaborated on Everybody Looking’s “Back On Road,” but they weren’t in the same room together. That song was decent enough, so maybe that’s an indication The Sixers EP will be pretty good. At least we know it’s officially in the works. Watch the Zaytoven interview below.
