EZTV – “Reason To Run” (Feat. Martin Courtney)
Late next month, New York chillers EZTV are releasing their sophomore album, High In Place. We’ve already heard the Jenny Lewis-featuring lead single “High Flying Faith,” and today they’ve shared another one called “Reason To Run.” This features some guitar playing courtesy of Real Estate’s Martin Courtney. The band explained to The FADER how that partnership came about:
We’re all fans of Many Moons by Real Estate’s Martin Courtney. Martin has such a unique sensibility with guitar licks, especially with a 12-string electric guitar. When we toured with Martin in February, he jumped onstage with us for a Flamin Groovies cover with his 12-string, which kind of sparked the idea of him writing a lick specifically for “Reason to Run.” He came down to the city a couple of hours before a Woods show and knocked his part out in like half an hour. I think he and Ezra are weirdly simpatico with regard to syncopation and rhythm, so watching the two of them kind of huddle over the guitar was great, on the same wavelength and finishing each others’ thoughts.
