Liima – “Russians” Video
Liima, a side project of Danish group Efterklang — featuring that band’s Mads Brauer, Casper Clausen, and Rasmus Stolberg plus Finnish percussionist Tatu Rönkkö — released their debut album, somewhat confusingly entitled ii, back in March. They impressed us at Helsinki’s Flow Festival this weekend, and, in conjunction with the current Olympic festivities, they recently shared a new video for album track “Russians,” which is built around a sample from an orchestral piece composed for the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games. The clip, directed by Danish filmmaking duo Jonas Bang and M.I.L.K, is both a music video and a documentary about the boycott of the 1980 Olympic Games, featuring interviews with retired West German javelin thrower Michael Wessing. Watch and check out Liima’s upcoming North American tour dates below.
