Cold Cave – “The Idea Of Love” Video
Cold Cave, Wesley Eisold’s fearsome postpunk project, hasn’t released an album since 2011’s Cherish The Light Years, and it might never release a proper album again. Eisold has just announced a 7″ single with two new songs, and with it, he’s posted an announcement that “it should be clear by now that Cold Cave is existing in their own world, releasing music in any format and at any time they choose. An evolution by it’s own rules, laughing happily outside of the tired norm that is music industry convention.” The A-side of the new single is a raspy, intense, spartan track called “The Idea Of Love.” And as a sort of lyric video, Eisold has shared a clip from director Amy Lee (not the one from Evanescence, presumably) of a pair of stylized black-and-white lips mouthing the song’s lyrics while taking occasional pulls on a cigarette. Listen to “The Idea Of Love” below.
“The Idea Of Love” b/w “Rue The Day” is out 9/9 on Heartworm, and the picture-disc vinyl edition, which is limited to 500 copies, will be available at Cold Cave’s upcoming live shows.
