Former Port O’Brien frontman and current WATERS frontman Van Pierszalowski is stepping out on his own with a new project called Van William. Well, not exactly on his own — he’s recruited rootsy Swedish sisters First Aid Kit for new single “Revolution,” a catchy slice of folk-pop with a jaunty melody that belies its lyrics: “I want a revolution/ You want a short solution/ We never could see eye to eye/ You wanted retribution/ I came to the same conclusion/ It’s a story as old as time.” Written after experiencing true heartbreak for the first time, “Revolution” charts the end of relationship, a weighty subject buoyed up by an arrangement of trumpet and keys and the Söderberg sisters’ lovely harmonies.
