Lady Gaga Announces New Album Joanne
Lady Gaga’s new album finally has a title and a release date. The singer told Zane Lowe that her forthcoming LP — the follow-up to the not-so-good 2013 release ARTPOP — will be titled Joanne and it’ll be out on 10/21. “Joanne” is the name of Lady Gaga’s late aunt, and it’s also Gaga’s middle name. Lady Joanne Gaga. It’s got a nice ring to it! Joanne’s lead single, “Perfect Illusion,” dropped a week ago, and it was produced by a real power house; Kevin Parker, Mark Ronson, Josh Homme, and BloodPop all had a hand in it. The album will feature collaborations with Father John Misty (on the as-yet-unheard track “Sinner’s Prayer”), Florence Welch, and Beck. Gaga said that she thinks the deluxe edition of the album will have 14-tracks, two of which are called “Ayo” and “John Wayne,” and explained that she collaborated closely with Hillary Lindsey (who wrote “Jesus Take The Wheel). The Joanne album artwork is pictured above, and a video for “Perfect Illusion” directed by Ruth Hogben is on its way. Stay tuned.
