The Weeknd Playing Next Week’s SNL Season Premiere
Given that Beauty Behind The Madness came out less than 13 months ago, the Weeknd is not somebody I even factored in when predicting this fall’s big pop albums. But we’re just one day into autumn and Abel Tesfaye is already in full promo offensive mode for his next LP. Last night we heard the title track from Tesfaye’s upcoming Starboy, and today comes news that he’ll perform on Saturday Night Live’s season opener next weeknd alongside host Margot Robbie.
So SNL is why the Weeknd had to drop out of his headlining set at The Meadows! Good news on that front, by the way: The fest has arranged for Tesfaye to perform at an earlier hour to accommodate his TV gig. So now fans get all the Weeknd they were hoping for plus bonus J. Cole, which is not such a bad deal all things considered.
earlier today @theweeknd was removed due to a scheduling error w/ snl. we've been working to fix this: @theweeknd is now playing @ 6:15pm
