Watch Lucy Dacus’ Take Away Show
Very talented Virginia singer-songwriter Lucy Dacus released her debut album, No Burden, this past spring, and the collection of songs was strong enough that it got Matador Records’ attention, and the label signed her and reissued the album just a few months ago. When Dacus opened for fellow Matador baby Car Seat Headrest at Bowery Ballroom in New York last month, she filmed a session for La Blogothèque’s reliably great A Take Away Show performance series. She brings her guitar to the streets of the city in the video, playing in a park near the venue, against a concrete wall, and inside a subway stairwell. She did “Direct Address” and “I Don’t Wanna Be Funny Anymore” from her debut and one called “Historians” that she’s been playing live for a while now. Watch below.
No Burden is out now via Matador Records.
