Watch Conor Oberst, Shawn Colvin, & Patty Griffin Cover Emmylou Harris’ “The Pearl”
The country-folk legend Emmylou Harris sang backup on a few songs from Bright Eyes’ 2005 album I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning. And last year, Bright Eyes mastermind Conor Oberst saluted his collaborator, performing as part of an all-star tribute concert to Harris. The show also featured people like Kris Kristofferson, Iron & Wine, Lucinda Williams, and Mavis Staples. Next week, that show will get a DVD and live-album release. And right now, you can watch one scene from that DVD, as Obert teams up with veteran singer-songwriters Shawn Colvin and Patty Griffin to cover “The Pearl,” a song from Harris’ 2000 album Red Dirt Girl. Check it out below, via Pitchfork.
The Life & Songs of Emmylou Harris: An All-Star Concert Celebration is out 11/11 on Rounder Records.
