Yellow Days – “Gap In The Clouds”
Yellow Days is the project of 17-year-old George Van De Broek, who hails from the Southeastern English town of Haslemere. As we heard on last month’s “Your Hand Holding Mine,” he sings like a much older man, wielding a rich and weathered baritone croon worthy of old soul records and retro slow-dance standards. He matches it with woozy production that verges on trip-hop and songwriting built on classic fundamentals. Van De Broek says his new “Gap In The Clouds” is a song “about the euphoria of feeling amazing after feeling low for so long.” That might seem like an impossible sensation for those who were rooting against Donald Trump last night, but a song this satisfying might at least provide some fleeting relief.
