Lin-Manuel Miranda Was Bullied By Immortal Technique In High School

The latest guest on Marc Maron's WTF podcast is Lin-Manuel Miranda, and as Vulture points out, the Hamilton creator shared a fascinating bit of hip-hop trivia during the interview. Apparently Miranda's years as a student at Hunter College High School on Manhattan's Upper East Side were haunted by none other than firebrand political rapper Immortal Technique.

"He was our school bully," Miranda told Maron. "He terrorized kids, he threw them in the garbage. I got thrown in the garbage by him." So it was awkward when Miranda and the rapper born Felipe Andres Coronel ended up on stage together: "He got a part senior year [in the school play] and I was like, 'Oh my god, I'm in a fucking play with the dude that scares the shit out of all my friends." Apparently it's all cool now, though: "He's one of the most political, ideological [rappers], he really made an incredible life for himself as a rapper... He was a really angry kid and it's been wonderful to watch him grow up and find a political outlet for that anger."

Honestly, Immortal Technique's delivery would work pretty well in one of Miranda's plays, so maybe they'll link up someday -- that is, unless Miranda is still secretly afraid of getting a swirly from the guy who made "Dance With The Devil." Check out the interview here, and scroll to the 39-minute mark for the Immortal Technique discussion.

Side note: If America's rock dad Marc Maron knew who Immortal Technique was before this interview, I am genuinely impressed.
